Our approach

Clear language, small steps, and rewards that matter to the dog.

Same Words is a practical household system. It is built to reduce mixed signals and help people reinforce the behavior they want to see again.

01

Make the wanted behavior easier

Change distance, timing, access, or the environment before asking the dog to succeed.

02

Use one short cue

Say it once, then help the dog complete a response they understand.

03

Reward the response

Food, play, access, distance, or attention can reinforce behavior when the dog values it.

04

Build difficulty gradually

Duration, distance, and distraction rise in small steps. If the dog cannot respond, make the step easier.

Why reward-based

Training should protect welfare as well as change behavior.

The American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior recommends reward-based methods for dog training and behavior modification. Its current position states that aversive methods are unnecessary and carry welfare risks.

The American Animal Hospital Association describes reinforcement, gradual exposure, and environmental management as parts of behavior care, and advises against aversive techniques.

Know when a book is not enough

Get professional help for distress, aggression, pain, or sudden behavior change.

A veterinarian can rule out medical causes and refer you to a qualified behavior professional. If a person or animal may be hurt, manage distance and access first.
